Engineering and Natural Sciences provides technological solutions to real world problems using fundamental sciences. Technological advances are the proof of a society’s cultural wealth, creative potential and its desire and ability to overcome problems; and it also affects the society. In this context, it is a profession acquired by studying, improved by experience and practice, provoked by curiosity; and it turns material into machine in an economic and careful way by skillyfılly applying sciences such as maths, physics, chemistry etc, for the welfare of humanity. On that sense, engineering is concerned with the transformation of science into practical applications.
History of technology shows us technological advancement and transfer of technology usually depended on the information transfer and know-how teaching through master-apprentice relationship. Nowadays, technological advancement depends on scientific knowledge and engineering design.
The faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences aims to become expedient and reach the needed level both in academic area and industry. The academic staff of the faculty consists of staff members that appear in international literature in their topics of concentration, and have outstanding work with citing, have an open mind, determined to continue their work correspondingly with the advancements of Turkey; take into consideration different aspects such as the social, environmental, ethical and legal aspects, and place emphasis on intra and interdisciplinary team work.
The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences incorporate departments of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry and Molecular Biology and Genetics. Graduate programs are prioritized since R&D activities are the main focus of the faculty. Academic staff will work together to train eligible graduates that are preferred in academia, industry and business. Students will not contradict society’s cultural values with their work, will aspire after the benefit of our country, will be open to innovation and will be entrepreneurs. Furthermore, active learning strategies and modern teaching technologies will be used. Top level collaborations with domestic and foreign universities, research institutions and industries will be created. Active use of foreign languages in education will be encouraged with all kinds of modern methods in order to coalesce with developing technology and changing world. Thus, it is aimed to educate brave, enterprising, and active learning embracing individuals who question, investigate, take responsibility, reason and participate in education.
