“Sustainability and Entrepreneurship: Bio Talks” Event Organized by İEEE Community

The IEEE Community EMBS Committee, one of the student communities of our university, organized the “Sustainability and Entrepreneurship: Bio Talks” event to address environmental pollution and footprint reduction sustainable production and green product -oriented solutions.

Naziye Nur ALKAN, Nil KARUL and Merve BİLGİLİ, students of İstinye University, participated as speakers in the event held at the İMÜ Ziraat Bankası Library Conference Hall on December 10, 2024. The speakers made comprehensive presentations on sustainable development goals, eco-entrepreneurship, environmentally friendly projects and environmental sustainability.

The Jelpresso team, which attracted great attention at the event , introduced their projects for the production of biomaterials from coffee pulp, drawing attention to the potential for advanced recycling of coffee waste. The team, who explained in detail how these biomaterials can be used to reduce environmental pollution in various sectors such as cosmetics, agriculture and construction, emphasized that the goal of their project is to contribute to sustainable production processes and minimize the environmental footprint.

The “Sustainability and Entrepreneurship: Bio Talks” event, organized in two sessions, was an important event that inspired young entrepreneurs in line with the vision of sustainable development by raising awareness on reducing environmental footprint and innovation in production . At the end of the event, three saplings were donated on behalf of each speaker in order to support environmental protection awareness, thus contributing to nature.
